Dear Member,

This is the first of what I hope are regular updates on the Irrigation Project.

Firstly, I would like to start with an apology. At the start of the project, I intended to hold presentations and reserve part of the clubhouse for plans etc, of the intended work. Obviously, that is not going to be possible, so I will try to ensure all members are fully informed of the progress through these communications.

I am aware that not all members receive every email from the club, so could I ask you all to make sure your playing partners are aware of any updates, as this will help us all to enjoy our golf and manage expectations whilst the work is being completed.

The company, SJS Irrigation, is due to start work on the 12th October and the expected completion date is around early to mid-January. Both dates are subject to weather conditions etc.

It goes without saying that the work will have an impact on the course. Part of the work involves SJS replacing the current main irrigation pipe that stretches around the course, and upgrading the sprinklers and cables around the green complexes.

Throughout the work, temporary greens will need to be used. However, the contractors do not work on weekends, so they will ensure all 18 holes are available Saturday and Sunday. In addition, we have negotiated with SJS and they have agreed to work on other areas on Wednesdays, so we will be able to access all 18 greens on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays.

This is important for the multi-day competitions (Turkey Trots) because it does allow a competition day during the week. Apologies to those who like to play on other days, but the replacement of the irrigation system is a necessity for the long term health of the course.

Please note the following important point:

•The contractors have primacy on the course, please be patient and allow them to complete their task before playing through.

Thanks,
Rob Mason
